The details
Work through the event.
Start with the birthday person. Would they want everyone together for a meal and cake, or plenty of room for music and dancing? Once you know that, seating and decorations become easier to plan. During a tour, point out where you imagine the cake, photographs, and entertainment, then see how much room is left for guests to move around.
